Inside La Tasca, Birmingham…

So, last week the doors at La Tasca, Barclaycard Arena opened for the first time, and wow, Birmingham – you are in for a right treat!

Five new retail units were added along the canal side of the arena as part of the £26million redevelopment, with La Tasca being the most recent!

Spanish restaurant chain, La Tasca, opened their doors on March 16th and will provide tasty Spanish cuisine in what will be their only restaurant in Birmingham. The tapas restaurant is the second restaurant to open at the Barclaycard Arena alongside Ed’s Easy Diner who launched in December.

On the menu at La Tasca you’ve got the likes of moreish nibbles, fresh breads, tasty tapas and a feisty range of cocktails (and soft drinks, of course). You can check out the full menu here.

Nothing says Spanish cuisine quite like tapas, the name deriving from ‘tapar’, meaning to ‘cover’ or ‘lid’. It is widely believed that centuries ago farmers and labourers would visit local ‘tascas’ for a well-earned drink, on top of which they would place a tapar to protect it.

Simon Wilkinson, CEO of the LTR Grupo de Restaurantes, said: “Our food is now made with over 85% of the menu delivered fresh daily and sourced from local Spanish producers. We also specialise in 14 different sangria cocktails. We are delighted to be bringing our new brand to the redeveloped Barclaycard Arena and the city of Birmingham”

Phil Mead, Managing Director of Arenas at the NEC Group, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to add well known and established brands, La Tasca and Costa Coffee, as tenants to the Barclaycard Arena.
