With his gravelly voice and smooth slide guitar, Chris Rea played an unforgettable show at the Barclaycard Arena on Sunday night.

Performing to an appreciative and lively audience, the gravel-voiced guitar stalwart showed his versatility by skilfully moving between different genres throughout his engaging set.

As the screens behind played out a rainy road scene, the man himself appeared on stage to open with The Last Open Road, and it was clear he was in the mood to entertain!

He slowly warmed up the crowd, until he played his smash hit Josephine, at which point everyone really got in on the act!

He moved on to another crowd-pleaser, Julia via virtuoso guitar solos and his patented shuffle dance moves before closing his set with the rousing The Road to Hell.

However he wasn't to leave it there, as his encore started with On The Beach, before getting everyone grooving with Let's Dance.

And of course, he couldn't play a show in December without closing with Driving Home for Christmas. During which the stage transformed to a festive wintry scene, complete with snowstorm and lit-up Christmas tree!

    Verdict

Fantastic - had me driving home for Christmas singing along all the way.
