On of the countries favourite Miranda made her return to Birmingham as part of her first UK-wide stand-up tour on Friday October 17th for an extra date as part of her ‘My, What I Call, Live Show’.
Like her previous performance at the LG Arena back in April, thousands of people turned up at the NIA to laugh along with the star, as she invited us to her party, or as she liked to a call it a “cocoon o’ fun” – which brought with it, her unique mix of classic stand-up, dancing along to old-school pop songs. Of course, no party is every complete without the obligatory buffet snacks, much to the delight of thosepeople lucky to be in the front row who managed to get their hands on a few tasty treats!
Anyway….to get us into the Friday-night party mood, Miranda started off the show by allowing I and many others in the audience to re-live their youth, whilst the young people in the crowd got their first insight into days gone by, as we all joined her in throwing some shapes to S Club 7’s ‘Reach’ and everyone’s favourite‘Saturday Night’ by Whigfield.
Now what better way for ‘real-life Miranda’ to bring her sitcom character’s personality, than to make jokes about upper-class parties – the kind situation that brings her alter-ego a barrel load of social awareness. The whole crowd laughed when Miranda said, “I think the last time I really enjoyed a party without worrying was when I was six”- and how she wished that one day it would by socially acceptable for adults to slide around on their knees all night, or gallop around the room, or even stuff their face full of anything thing they could lay their hands on from party buffet, without having a care in the world for what anybody else thought!
However, the biggest of night was when Miranda went off script, and picked on one unsuspecting man after his mid-show toilet visit and made his gallop back to his seat much to the delight of the NIA crowd!
If you get the chance to see Miranda live, be sure not to miss it! You could get take your Gran or child…she really does bring fun and laughter suitable for all the family!
